Covid-19 cases in Kenya shoot up to 490 as 25 more test positive

The number of Confimed covid-19 cases has jumped to 490 after 25 more persons test positive for coronavirus from a total of 1,012 persons who were tested in the last 24 hours.

While addressing the nation Health CAS Dr. Mwangangi said out of the 25 new Covid-19 cases recorded today, 15 are from Nairobi and 10 from Mombasa.

“We have managed to test 1,012 samples in the last 24 hours, out of this number 25 tested positive for corona virus; 15 in Nairobi, 10 in Mombasa. All the 25 are Kenyans and none has a history of travel; 13 – male, 12-female,” said Dr. Mercy Mwangangi.

The CAS said that of the new cases in Nairobi, eight are from Eastleigh, two from Kawangware, and two from Umoja and 1 in Kariobangi South.

“The cases are distributed as follows; Eastleigh (8), Mathare (1), Kawangware (2), Umoja (2), Kahawa West (1) and 1 in Kariobangi South.

“In Mombasa, Old Town (8), Bombolulu (1) and Jomvu (1),” she stated.

Recoveries

So far a total of 173 persons have been discharged after 6 more tested negative today.

Dr. Mwangangi also noted that the government is committed to see to it that proper mechanisms to remove stigma is being laid down.

“We are trying to put in place mechanisms that will one remove stigma from the testing practise and two that we will actually facilitate Kenyans who may not afford quarantine services to be able to undergo a social assessment and get the care that they require,” Dr. Mercy Mwangangi
