KMTC Wajir Campus Background Information and Location

Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) – Wajir Campus is one of the 71 constituent campuses of KMTC. The campus was established in 2016 and that made it easierfor the students since they no longer had to travel for 493 km to Nairobi’s KMTC so as to access the same medical training. The campus’ cost was about ksh.200 million.

The facilities available at KMTC Wajir Campus include:

• 2 modern classrooms, each with a student capacity of 45.
• A well-equipped computer laboratory
• A dining hall that serves affordable yet quality meals
• 2 student hostels for on-campus accommodation
• Practicals lab

KMTC Wajir Campus Clinical experience sites

The main clinical experience sites used by students at KMTC Wajir Campus are the health facilities within the county, such as the Wajir Level 5 County Hospital. Previously, the students used to be sent all the way to Nairobi for study and clinical experience but that changed, thanks to the establishment of the campus. In addition, students are allowed to go to the various health facilities throughout the country for clinical experiences.

KMTC Wajir Campus Clubs, societies and sports

The administration at KMTC Wajir Campus encourages its students to take part in extracurricular activities since continuous study can lead to burnout. With that, it introduced a number of clubs, societies and sports so as to enable the students to participate in. The clubs available at KMTC Wajir Campus include Muslim Group, Seventh Day Adventist, Young Christian Society, Drama and Music Club, Christian Union and Environmental Club. The sporting activities available at the campus include football, athletics, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, scrabble and darts.
