Kisumu County is among the counties that are located in the Nyanza Region of Kenya. Kisumu County has an area of 2,085.4Km² and it borders Vihiga to the North, Nandi County to the North East, Kericho County to the East, Nyamira to the South, Homa Bay to the South West and Siaya to the West.
As per the 2019 Census, the population of Kisumu County was one million one hundred and fifty five thousand five hundred and seventy four (1,155,574). In the 2017 General Elections, Kisumu County had a total number of five hundred and thirty nine thousand five hundred and ninety three (539,593) registered voters.
The Governor of Kisumu County is H.E Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o. The Senator of Kisumu County is Hon. Outa Fredrick Otieno and Hon Buyu Rozaah Akinyi is the Women Representative.
Kisumu County is divided into seven constituencies and thirty five electoral wards. Below is a list of all the consituencies in Busia County, Wards in each ward and the current Member of Parliament;
Kisumu East Constituency
Hon. Shakeel Shabbir is the current Kisumu East Constituency Member of Parliament. Kisumu East Constituency has five wards which include; Kajulu, Kolwa East, Manyatta ‘B’, Nyalenda ‘A’ and Kolwa Central.
It had 81,538 registered voters in the 2017 General Elections.
Kisumu West Constituency
Kisumu West Constituency is represented Hon. John Olago Aluoch. It has five wards which include; 5 South West Kisum, Cetral Kisumu, Kisumu North, West Kisumu and North West Kisumu.
The Constituency had 74,657 registered voters in the 2017 elections.
Kisumu Central Constituency
The Member of Parliament of Kisumu Central Constituency is Hon. Fred Odhiambo Ouda. The Constituency has six wards which include; Railways, Migosi, Shaurimoyo Kaloleni, Market Milimani, Kondele and Nyalenda B. It had 120,023 voters in the 2017 General Elections.
Seme Constituency
Hon. James Nyikal is the Seme parliamentary representative. Its wards are five and they include; Seme4West Seme, Central Seme, East Seme and North Seme. It had 53,553 registered voters in the 2017 General Elections.
Nyando Constituency
Hon. Jared Odoyo Okelo is the current Nyando Constituency Member of Parliament. Butula Constituency has five wards which include; East Kano/Waidhi, Awasi/Onjiko, Ahero, Kabonyo/Kanyag Wal and Kobura . It had 71,680 registered voters in the 2017 General Elections.
Muhoroni Constituency
Hon. James Onyango Oyoo is the current Muhoroni Member of Parliament. Funyula Constituency has five wards which include; Miwani, Ombeyi, Masogo/Nyag’oma and Chemeli/ Muhoroni/Koru. It had 69,256 registered voters in the 2017 General Elections.
Nyakach Constituency
The Member of Parliament of Nyakach Constituency is Hon. Joshua Aduma Owuor. The Constituency has five wards which include; South East Nyakach, West Nyakach, North Nyakach, Central Nyakach, South West Nyakach. It had 68,884 voters in the 2017 General Elections.
