TSC Disability Guide Allowance In All Grades/Job Groups 2024

TSC Disability Guide Allowance applies to employees with disabilities and require personal assistants to perform their duties. Teachers who are living with disability are required to be registered with the National Council for Persons with Disability.

The Commission in collaboration with the National Council for persons with Disability (NCPWD) determines the type, nature and degree of disability.

It is important to note that any employee with special needs shall be required to:

  • Declare disability at the time of employment,
  • Declare disability that occurs in the course of employment,
  • Register and obtain a disability registration certificate from the NCPWD which shall be subjected to scrutiny before acceptance,
  • Declare their disability status once registered by the NCPWD within a reasonable period acceptable to the Commission which shall be determined from time to time.

Teachers with Disability are exempted from paying the Pay As You Earn Tax (PAYE).

In this write I will delve deeply into disability guide allowance paid to teachers in all grades formerly known as job groups.

Interestingly, the commission pays same amount of disability guide allowance to teachers across all grades. This simply means that Teachers Service Commission does not discriminate against at all.

The entry grade for teachers in primary schools is B5 while the entry grades for teachers in Secondary schools are C1 and C2 for diploma and degree certificate holders respectively.
